ABOUT:



· Jaden Willhite, 11-year-old leukemia patient and diabetic, was last year’s recipient of the $31,000 proceeds from the Hopkinsville Eagles Poker Run. This year, Jaden would like to help other people with diabetes, and thank the Eagles by supporting their Diabetes Research Center fundraising effort with this benefit concert.

· The International Eagles are partnering with The University of Iowa in a five year fundraising project that will culminate with The Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center at The University of Iowa.



· The Hopkinsville Aerie was instituted in the community 1970 and is home to more than 850 members from the local community. The Hopkinsville Auxiliary was founded in the community 1971 and has grown to more than 550 members from the local community.



· The Hopkinsville Eagles donate more than $50,000 annually to local and national organizations such as the Joy Carroll Scholarship Fund, the annual Senior Games, the local senior citizens center and the Annual Project Graduation program.



* Misti Long (June, 2009 CMA performer), Zach Spencer, and Eden's Crash will be present at the Viceroy to support the upcoming benefit concert and Jaden. Each performer has a myspace page that list personal biography, CD, and Music options. The headline acts for the Benefit Concert are: John Corbett, Trey Hensley, Misti Long, and Moore & Moore. Local radio talent; Zach Spencer, will open for the headline acts. Other Performers for the benefit are: Tom Roady, Casey Kelly & Lesley Ellis, Copper Road, Midnight Blue, and Eden's Crash.

Hopkinsville Fraternal Order of Eagles to Announce Jaden Willhite Diabetes Research Center Benefit Concert

11-year-old leukemia patient and diabetic offered idea as thank you to the Eagles



Hopkinsville, KY (May 13, 2009) – The Hopkinsville Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) #3423 announce the Jaden Willhite Diabetes Research Center Benefit Concert on Monday, May 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Viceroy Theater in Oak Grove.



Jaden Willhite, 11-year-old leukemia patient and diabetic, was last year’s recipient of the Hopkinsville Eagles Poker Run for terminally ill children. Willhite wanted to thank the Eagles for their $31,000 donation by helping fundraise for the International Eagles’ Diabetes Research Center .



From Willhite’s heart, the inaugural Jaden Willhite Diabetes Research Center Benefit Concert was created.



“Jaden is so appreciative of the generous donation and support the Eagles provide him as he fights for his life,” said Heather Willhite, Jaden Willhite’s Mother and Co-chairman of the Diabetes Research Benefit Concert. “This is a small way he can give to them.”



The Jaden Willhite Diabetes Research Center Benefit Concert will be held on June 20 beginning at noon. The concert is open to the public. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Raffle tickets are $5 each for a chance to win a Hannah Montana Guitar signed by Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus.



Entertainers to perform live include John Corbett, Trey Hensley, Zach Spencer, Tom Roady, The Standards, Bobby Deyoe, Eden ’s Crash, Troy Wykle and many more. Food, drinks and free diabetic screening will be available.



“Jaden is a remarkable young man,” said Glenn Groebli, Incoming Eagles Southeast Central Regional President and Co-chairman of the Diabetes Research Benefit Concert. “We are honored to host a benefit concert in his name for a charity loved by the Eagles.”



In a unanimous decision by more than 700 voting Fraternal Order of Eagle delegates from across the United States and Canada , the Eagles decided to partner with The University of Iowa in a five year, $25 million fundraising project that will culminate with The Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center at The University of Iowa.



The Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center will be a dedicated center for diabetes research within the Institute for Biomedical Discovery Building at The University of Iowa. Money fundraised by the Fraternal Order of Eagles will go directly to medical research.



The Hopkinsville Aerie was instituted in the community 1970 and is home to more than 850 members from the local community.
